What’s up this weekend: 10/11 – 10/13

(The children search for “the perfect gourd” at last weekend’s Farmer’s Wife event.)

Here are some highlights from the Community Calendar! (It’s not too late to add something. Just comment here or email info(at)pennsvalleyfamily(dot)com. We’ll be sure to get the word out for you.)

Have you reserved your seats on the Community Hayride? Friday night’s the night! 🙂

Support the efforts of local farmers as they work hard to establish a Flea & Farmer’s Market, held on the Grange Fair Grounds.

This is the final 2013 Sunday afternoon to enjoy Rhoneymeade Arboretum. If you’ve never pulled down Rimmey Road, plan to explore this local treasure on Sunday, October 13th any time between 12:30 – 4:30. Wander around the gardens and check out the cool sculptures. My family loves to guess at the names before we read the placard. There are some interesting ones… Also, enjoy a local artists’ show (and maybe some free snacks!) in the cabin. The gardens open again in April.

It’s the CROP Walk of Penns Valley! What a wonderful way to help hungry people.

 Enjoy your home,

The Penns Valley Youth Flag Football program is hosting Chicken BBQ this saturday. This is the information I received via email.

We are having a chicken bbq this Saturday, October 12 starting at 9 a.m. to benefit our league. It will be located in Centre Hall across from Snappy’s in the parking lot of the old Horner building. The cost will be $9.00 for the chicken meal which includes macaroni salad, baked beans, and a roll. Or you can just get the chicken half for $7.00. We would really appreciate our flag family coming out and supporting us. So tell your friends and family.
