The Day the Chickens Free Ranged

When our 75-2=73 chickens were big enough, we opened the barn door. We thought that they would frolic out like the good free rangers we had been talking about. But they weren’t so sure about leaving the food trough behind.

Only these two ventured into the hallway, not so sure about that slope:

BUT, within a few days (and a whole lot of coaxing), they conquered the slope and learned that there’s a whole lot more food outside! We feed them once in the morning and fill their water through the day. Then they stay outside until dusk, eating bugs and whatnot. That scary ramp is nothing but a nostalgic memory to them now… our little free rangers.

 Enjoy your home,
