Raising Dinner: Week 3

The chicks are 3+ weeks old today and have graduated to the barn. They are growing like gangbusters.  When I went up to feed them this morning, they squawked and flapped with glee. I felt… loved. Until of course, I filled their empty feeders and they suddenly forgot all about me. Hmmm.

They’ll clean out any amount of food we give them, and we just weren’t sure how often to feed them. Ryan did a little research and discovered that happy farmers recommend feeding them continually throughout the day, and giving them a break through the night. So far, so good.

chicks2This is our homemade feed. Doesn’t it look beautiful? Ryan said that he will share the recipe once he has perfected it. So, don’t go anywhere!
